Edge City Monthly #7 — October 2024
Vibes from Edge City Lanna; Sign up for the Lanna Hackathon; Matt Prewitt on the Edge City Podcast
November 1, 2024
Hello friends! Timour reporting in with all the updates of Edge City in October ☀️ I hope you have had a wonderful month!
A few weeks ago, we kicked off Edge City Lanna in Chiang Mai, and the energy here has been fantastic! Hundreds of curious, kind and high-agency people have joined us for collaborative learning, co-working, and community connection. Our program has been packed with sessions exploring the latest in tech, science, and art, all set within a multi-generational environment that emphasizes health and well-being.
It's been inspiring to see the popup city model working — people are come together to learn, be creative, and experience the serendipity of the village.
On with the update!
Remind me, what is Edge City?
Edge City creates popup villages around the world that convene people working at the frontiers of tech, science, and society.
Our mission is to act as a ‘society incubator’—a living lab where new ideas, technologies, cultures, and organizations are tested and scaled, all with the goal of advancing human flourishing.
We aim to partner with folks who are reimagining permanent living environments — whether a new city or a reinvigorated town. Please reach out if you are building something relevant!

Vibes from Edge City Lanna
Edge City Lanna is our latest month-long popup village, happening now in Chiang Mai. Hundreds of people are here in our living lab environment to co-create events, share knowledge, experiment with new technologies, create art, and build novel projects.
When attendees of our popup villages return home, we hope values like multi-generational learning, creativity, playfulness, and high-agency building spread further. This is how we advance human flourishing!

Edge City Podcast - Episode 02
In this new episode of the Edge City Podcast, we chat with Matt Prewitt from RadicalxChange about rethinking society through intentional experimentation and social technology.
The conversation explores various types of intentional communities, including affinity communities, individualist escape communities, and responsible experimenters.
Matt highlights how responsible experimentation can create more sustainable and impactful spaces and argues that mutual vulnerability is essential for building trust and shared identity. This is illustrated by RadicalxChange's use of community currencies like "∈dges" at Edge City’s pop-up villages, an experiment to incentivize local exchange and keeping value circulating in the community.
The chat closes with ideas on how such social technologies can cultivate human flourishing by combining global connectedness with robust, locally supportive systems.
