Introducing: Edge City Austin @ SXSW

We're excited to announce our first showcase of this year, Edge City Austin @ SXSW, taking place March 2-7 leading up to SXSW 2025! This showcase will set the stage for Edge City 2025, exploring the cross-sections of technology enabling human flourishing, including AI x philosophy, cryptography, health, culture, governance and biotech.

Edge City Austin will serve as an energizing prelude to the main festival, offering our signature blend of thoughtful social experiences. We're creating a space that will encourage social connections and default-healthy living. All while advancing a techno-optimistic future through engaging workshops, an interactive co-working space, and a week-long buildathon to collaborate on new projects.

We're excited to see our existing global community collaborate with innovators and diverse talent drawn by SXSW, bringing together unique perspectives on our focus areas. This collaboration will strengthen Austin's position as a frontier tech hub, all while embracing the 'Keep Austin Weird' spirit and expanding our ecosystem of high-agency builders and thinkers.

‍What is Edge City Austin @ SXSW?‍

Edge City Austin @ SXSW is a six-day showcase running alongside SXSW EDU, leading up to SXSW, where we'll transform Hotel Magdalena and the Keiretsu coworking space on South Congress for innovation-focused collaboration and deep, meaningful connection. Unlike traditional conferences, participants will share living and working spaces in an immersive environment. Here's what to expect:

In the mornings: Energizing morning workouts and adventures with the community, followed by vibrant conversations over breakfast at Austin's best local spots.

In the daytime: Flow between focused work time and curated talks where small groups connect with experts to explore frontier ideas, creating real-time feedback loops between learning and building. Our co-working space gives you the flexibility to stay on top of your own projects while surrounded by exceptional minds — a dedicated area to work, learn, and share. 

In the evenings: Attend dinners with community members — these can look like anything from picnics after a Barton Springs dip to home-cooked meals at local members' homes, or gathering at our Magdalena space, available until 10pm and featuring an outdoor area perfect for movie nights or dance sessions. It's your chance to spend quality time with others in fun, meaningful ways while experiencing all that Austin has to offer.

The experience will include an intensive buildathon where ideas and projects developed throughout the week come to life. On the final Friday morning, we'll come together for a community workout on the grass outside Barton Springs, followed by a refreshing plunge. We'll conclude with project demos and closing words at Keiretsu.

Participants include forward-thinking tech pioneers, AI innovators, philosophers, and talented artists committed to a better future. We bring together people who are curious, kind, and high-agency, all working towards the common goal of human flourishing.

Edge City Austin @ SXSW is designed to create lasting impact across multiple dimensions. Through this showcase, we aim to:

• Accelerate Innovation: Showcase and accelerate high-impact projects and discussions from the Edge City community for 2025 and beyond. 
• Strengthen Local Ecosystem: As a hub committed to building a better future, we're helping position Austin as a center for innovation around societal networks that are dynamic, multidisciplinary, multigenerational, and health-focused. We're bringing together high-agency builders committed to pushing the boundaries of science, technology and society, all while introducing more local Austinites to Edge City. 
• Foster Global Exchange: Create meaningful connections between researchers, builders, and industry leaders across generations and geographies.

Join us for six days of learning, building, and shaping the future in the heart of Austin. Here's what you need to know:

• Time frame: March 2nd - March 7th, 2025
• Location: Hotel Magdalena, Austin, Texas and Keiretsu Co-working on South Congress
• Format: Showcase with talks, workshops, health-focused workouts and food, shared social experiences, and a week-long hackathon
• Programming: Daily workshops, talks, and mentorship sessions co-created by participants, featuring local and global experts. (More details on specific talks and workshops coming in early February.)
• Size: 150-300 week-long participants & around 500 attendees daily
