What is Edge City Lanna Hackathon?

The Edge City Lanna Hackathon is a week-long event focused on creating tools for human flourishing. It’s a hybrid gathering where tech enthusiasts, creators, and innovators come together—both in-person in Chiang Mai and online—to build impactful projects at the intersection of crypto, AI, health, bio, and other frontier fields.

It’s not just about tech; it’s about developing ideas, frameworks, and concepts that have a lasting impact on society.

How does the hybrid format work?

The hybrid format allows participants to join and compete from anywhere.

In-Person: If you’re in Chiang Mai, you’ll have access to our coworking space (Mövenpick), workshops, office hours, and mentors throughout the week.

Remote: If you’re joining remotely, you’ll still have access to online resources, online 1:1 office hours, partner workshops, and can participate in all hackathon activities virtually.

What is the focus of the hackathon?

The hackathon’s theme is Tools for Human Flourishing. You can work on projects that align with any frontier field or a combination of fields, such as Crypto, AI, Biotech, Governance, and more. The goal is to build solutions that make a real difference and have long-term impact.

Can I present a non-tech project?

Absolutely! We encourage all forms of creativity. If your project supports human flourishing, you’re in the right place.

Are there specific tracks or bounties?

Yes! We have multiple tracks and bounties sponsored by leading organizations, with a prize pool of $60K+ USD.

Each track and bounty has unique conditions and guidelines. Check out the full list here.

Can I participate solo or do I need a team?

You can participate solo or in teams of up to 5 members.

If you’re looking for teammates, we recommend using Cherry to connect with other participants and collaborate on projects.

Do I need to be in Chiang Mai to participate?

No, this is a hybrid event! You can participate remotely from anywhere.

However, for the Finale Track and closing ceremonies, at least one team member must be present in Chiang Mai to be eligible for the special $10K prize pool.

All other partner bounties are open to both remote and in-person participants.

Remember, tracks cover various fields, and each bounty has unique conditions and guidelines.

Check out the full list of tracks and bounties here.

If I don’t have a ticket for Edge City Lanna and I’m part of another Chiang Mai Pop Up City or Hacker House, can I still participate?

Yes! We welcome creatives from all Chiang Mai pop-ups and hacker houses.

You’ll have access to the hackathon, coworking space, and event activities throughout the week.

Just make sure to join our Edge City Lanna Hackathon telegram group here.

What’s the timeline for the hackathon?

The hackathon runs from Nov 2 to Nov 8, 2024. Check the agenda for the full schedule of activities, including workshops, office hours, and demo day.

Can I invite friends and collaborators?

Absolutely! Edge City Lanna is open to everyone. Invite friends and collaborators to join, whether they’re participating remotely or in-person. The more, the merrier!

Where can I see the hackathon winners?

You can find the list of all the winners and their amazing projects here:
